I created this Skateboard Prop in 2016 as part of a VR skateboarding project. Due to the technical constraints of VR platforms at the time, I needed to keep the total triangle count around 2,000 and be mindful of my total texture atlas size. The board, trucks, and wheels are separate textures, combined into one atlas to reduce draw calls. This enabled me to swap between different deck graphics, wheel types, and truck colours. Each texture has a clean and worn version, which is interpolated using a mask to create realistic damage and wear over time. You can see this wear in action in the video below.
